Sealants

What are Sealants?

Sealants help to protect your teeth so that they do not become decayed. You will love the fact that sealants are totally clear and cannot be seen after they’ve been placed. You will want to look into having sealants placed here at Hollywood DDS as a way to keep your smile protected. They are ideal for patients of all ages and varying needs.

Why are Sealants needed?

The reason a person would require sealants is because they want to be able to keep their teeth fully protected. The back teeth tend to be more prone to decay. This is because these areas are often harder to keep clean when compared to the front teeth. If this has been a problem for you, it is time to consider utilizing the benefits of clear sealants in our office.

Who is a good candidate for Sealants?

We can examine your teeth to determine if and when you might need sealants. We often recommend them to children who don’t have the best eating and brushing habits, or to adults who already have quite a lot of fillings on their back teeth. Sealants are only applied to the back teeth, so having them placed is not an excuse to not brush and floss your teeth. It is important that you brush and floss your teeth daily even with sealants in place.

What happen when sealants are placed?

We will start by thoroughly cleaning and drying the teeth where the sealants will be placed. Next, a solution is applied to the teeth which will help the sealants adhere properly to the surface of the teeth. The sealants will be painted onto the teeth, and then will be cured with a light to harden the material, keeping it in place. You will be able to leave the office with the comfort of knowing that your teeth will be better protected from decay.
